Body Image Workshop
The Body Image Workshops are
designed to educate young people about body image and becoming
'media literate'. They are preventative programs with the
objective of providing participants with a safe environment to
holistically reflect on their personal identity and build
self-esteem and personal coping skills that can be incorporated
into everyday life. The Body Image Workshop has featured in the
Sydney Morning Herald's Health and Science section and was
developed at Concepts.
The extensive program
includes topics such as:
- Developing a positive self-esteem based on strengths and
qualities rather than physical appearances.
- Becoming media literate; learning strategies to challenge
unrealistic images of men and women presented in the media, and
the art of 'photo shopping'.
- How genetics, lifestyle choices, attitudes of friends and
family, culture ideals and self-esteem impacts on body image.
- Self-esteem and positive attitude strategies; how to feel good
about oneself and others.
Body Image workshops are
available for Grades 7-9 and Grades 3-6, both male and female
students and are run according to interest. If you would like to
participate in a Body Image workshop or would like some further
information, please
email us your details and we will get the required
information sent out to you.
