Post Natal Support Group
Becoming a mother can be both
a very joyous and a very stressful / difficult time. Some
mothers find it difficult coping with the stress of caring for a
new baby. This is sometimes complicated by family and marital
demands. Different women cope in various ways according to the
level of support they experience during this time. Some women
may experience feelings of isolation, loneliness, depression,
anxiety and a general sense of not feeling well.
These are relevant issues for
many women and as such need to be addressed in a supportive
environment. The support group offered by the Psychologists at
Concepts has been designed with these needs in mind. The
aim of the group is to increase women's resillience and ability
to cope with changes following childbirth.
The support group will
address the variety of feelings experiences by the individual
members of the group and will include:
- Setting realistic expectations;
- Finding a balance between being an individual, a partner and a
mother;
- Identifying and establishing support networks; and
- Establishing and maintaining a positive emotional wellbeing.
